## At a glance

- The first sheet is a lesson in reading before reacting. A pale coastline gives way to a long open lane; the Red Underline guards the top of the page. The margin’s radar note asks you to notice the warning before the aircraft itself.

- Real campaign context · fictional sortie and illustrative map, not a geographic reconstruction.

## Dated changes

- 2026-10-30: Added from the named source to the Field Guide.

## Open questions

- Why was radar only one part of air defense? A detection had to be reported, checked, displayed and passed to controllers. The people and communications linking the system made an early sighting useful.
