## At a glance

- Twin Trails draws two lines across the island sheet. A lateral draft and the Twin Trace punish a fixed aim. Behind the invented duel sits the story of Henderson Field: a strip of ground mattered because people could keep aircraft operating from it.

- Real campaign context · fictional sortie and illustrative map, not a geographic reconstruction.

## Open questions

- Why could possession of one airfield matter beyond the runway itself? Henderson Field supported continuing air operations around Guadalcanal. Its importance came from the aircraft and personnel able to work there, not simply from a cleared patch of land.
