# Breathglass changelog

## 2026-10-09: v1.3, a permissions screen up front

- Right after the loader, a "Before you blow" screen asks for the microphone explicitly, with one big button, a live breath test ("Heard your breath ✓"), and a note that sound is measured, never recorded.
- Motion and camera are offered underneath as optional, each with its own Allow button and a live check that it's working. Allow everything asks for all three (motion first, as iOS requires).
- Blocked or missing sensors get plain, platform-specific fixes (iPhone, Android, desktop), including the https case. A missing microphone is told apart from a refused one.
- Returning players who already allowed the mic see it reconnect on its own. The Continue tap also unlocks audio.

## 2026-10-09: v1.2, a loader that says what's wrong

- New start-up loader, after Waymark's: every file is checked fresh and shown as a bead of glass (orange in flight, glass-green landed, red failed), with a file report of size and time per file.
- When something fails it names the file and why (missing, got a web page instead, timed out, offline), or quotes the error the game threw while starting. A stale-file error says so plainly.
- Buttons: Try again, Reset app cache (clears this game's cached files, re-fetches this build and reloads with fresh URLs) and Continue anyway. If the game itself won't start, Start with default settings resets settings but keeps the shelf.
- Checks for WebGL before lighting the furnace, and a watchdog speaks up if the first frame takes more than 25 seconds.
- One build number in index.html now versions every module and the stylesheet through a generated import map, so a phone can't mix old and new files. The file list lives in assets.js, and a test keeps it complete.

## 2026-10-09: v1.1, the practice room

- New Practice room on the title screen: nine short drills (blow, blow gently, tip down, tip up, hold level, roll the pipe, and optional swing, light furnace and hum).
- Each drill asks for its own sensor in place and falls back to the on-screen stand-in, with live coaching ("More air", "Other way", "That sounds like a hum").
- The practice glass is kept soft and never cracks or bursts; if it gets too big or too long, you get a fresh gather.
- Module cache-busting bumped so phones load the new files.

## 2026-10-09: v1, The Singing Furnace

- First playable build. Glassblowing on a phone: blow into the mic, tilt to stretch, swing to draw out, roll the pipe to keep the glass true, aim the camera at a lamp to reheat. Press and hold on the glass for the jacks.
- Molten-glass model with conserved glass volume, temperature-dependent flow, sag in the spinning frame, cracking and blowouts.
- Every vessel's voice (Helmholtz) and ring (shell mode) is measured from its shape, with a live tuner while you work.
- Five patrons with commissions judged in cents. Deliver for coin or keep the vessel.
- The shelf: tap to ring, blow to sound every vessel at once, hum to find the matching glass, and collect the seven-note Lantern Choir to play its tune. Export, import and photograph.
- Portrait, landscape and desktop layouts. Keyboard and on-screen stand-ins for every sensor. Automatic Lite graphics on slow devices.
- Node tests for the glass model, the acoustics and the commissions.
