❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need special equipment to participate?

No. A laptop with a webcam is enough. The goal is reps and proof-of-human, not production quality.

How do I make a picture-in-picture video?

Use the free version of Zoom:

  • Start a meeting (solo is fine)
  • Share your screen (Zoom gives you a picture-in-picture layout)
  • Record to your computer

That's it—no extra gear required.

Does my idea have to be new?

No. Old ideas are fine. Reusing something you've already thought about is totally acceptable.

Do I get more points for a complicated project?

No. No extra points for complexity. The scoring rewards action and shipping, not difficulty.

Can I reuse an old project I already built?

Yes. Reuse is allowed. Post it and share it with the group so we can discuss it.

What if I'm traveling or can only do something small one week?

That's fine. The "penalty" isn't small output—the only real penalty is not posting anything.

What happens if I don't post?

You land on the slacker list (kept by Eric), which means you owe the group coffee.

Do I have to share my code publicly?

There's an expectation that code is shared publicly so everyone can reference and learn from each other.

How long does this run?

This runs until about March 5th. It's designed to be a light weekly lift—not a big time sink.

Where do we communicate?

Right now, Eric is coordinating (no Discord/Slack yet). If coordination becomes messy, we'll switch to a group chat tool.

💡 Tips (to make this easy and consistent)

Keep scope tiny

Pick something you can finish fast. A "small shipped thing" beats an ambitious half-done thing every time.

Optimize for reps, not polish

Record with Zoom, ship, repeat. The whole system is designed to build momentum.

Default weekly workflow (15–45 minutes)

  1. Choose a simple idea (new or old)
  2. Build or package something small
  3. Record a quick Zoom PiP walkthrough
  4. Post + share the link with the group
  5. Share code publicly when applicable

Make it social-proof friendly

The point is to post on different social networks with a built-in audience. Don't overthink the platform—just publish.
