Hey, AI innovators! It’s that time for WEEK THREE.

Welcome to Week 3 of the Spring into AI Competition!

Now that we’ve experienced a world where articles aren’t just words… they’re like software programs that can teach and adapt. That’s right: Tutorials that help humans can supercharge AI too. Think about video games (easy, you’re probably playing one now?) those sneaky tutorial levels that teach you the ropes without feeling like a lecture. The best games make level one your playground for learning controls, strategies, and secrets.
For Week 3, your mission is to build something using AI that teaches humans (or even other AIs) about a topic. Why? Because real learning sticks when it’s effortless. Ever notice how you memorize coffee shop locations after one visit, no flashcards needed? Or how you know every shortcut in your favorite game without “studying”? It’s because interest and interaction make it automatic. Let’s make education feel like that—interactive, engaging, and baked into fun experiences.
There’s a few books on this phenomena too, btw. Have you read Moonwalking with Einstein?

Ideas for Your Project: Blending Video Games, Teaching, and AI Magic
Stuck on what to build? Here’s a brainstorm of ideas that mix game design (progression, rewards, interactivity) with AI-powered tutorials. These aren’t just concepts… they’re launchpads for your competition entry. Pick one, tweak it, and code it up!
AI-Powered Adventure Game Tutorial: Craft a text-based or graphical quest where players learn history or coding by choosing paths. AI generates fresh scenarios and feedback, like games teaching mechanics through play…no boring manuals!
Interactive Quiz World: Design a virtual map for exploring topics like geography or science. AI pops quizzes at landmarks, unlocking rewards for right answers. It mimics remembering cool spots (like that coffee shop) naturally.
Gamified Language Learner: Build an AI chatbot for role-playing in a new language, simulating real chats. Level up skills automatically… feels like gaming, not grinding.
AI Simulation for Skills: Create virtual labs (chemistry) or driving games (physics). Embed tutorials in gameplay, teaching via trial and error, just like video game intros.
Personalized Story Builder: An AI tool for crafting stories or comics on math or history. It teaches subtly while you create, turning lessons into creative loops.
Memory Palace Game: Use AI to build virtual “palaces” where users place facts (like biology terms) as items. Navigate like a game to recall… taps into effortless location memory.
Collaborative AI Tutor Game: Multiplayer challenges where AI guides group learning, like puzzles for teamwork. Rewards keep it addictive and smart.
The secret sauce? Let AI adapt to the learner, adjusting difficulty like games do. Your project could revolutionize how we learn!

Spotlight on a Killer Idea: The Memory Palace Technique Meets AI
One standout from our brainstorm is the Memory Palace. If you want to understand the future, then one place to start is the brain. The palace technique isn’t a new age hack. It’s actually an ancient hack that’s perfect for AI enhancement. Also called the “Method of Loci,” it’s about using familiar places to store info. Your brain rocks at spatial recall (like game maps), so link facts to spots in a mental “palace” for easy access.
A Dash of History
Born in ancient Greece (thanks to poet Simonides escaping a collapse and recalling seats), it powered Renaissance scholars and now helps memory pros and Sherlock-style detectives. Science says it boosts your hippocampus for 20-40% better retention. Did you glaze over the math? Here’s the trick: Dual coding words with wild visuals WORKS.
Build Your Palace Step-by-Step
Pick a Spot: Your room, school, or Minecraft world… something vivid.
Choose Loci: Key points like door, bed, desk.
Associate Wildly: Make facts into crazy images: visual, sensory, emotional. Engage as much of your brain surface area as possible. The less you engage, the less you memorize. If you hyper focus on one brain cell, it’s like working a focusing on just the pinky finger and not the whole arm in the gym.
Store It: Place images at loci.
Recall: Mental walk-through.
Level Up: Expand, practice, reuse.

Memory Palace Ideas from Lifelong Learners and World Class Pros abound if you go looking online. So I used that to ask Grok for some examples of how to translate math and tech into a memory palace. Let’s have the most advanced brain on the planet help guide us to learn more, faster.

Palaces of Power
Let’s apply this to formulas and code into adventures!
Quadratic Formula Quest
Formula:
. Palace: Classroom.
Door: Buzzing bee (-b).
Desk: Bouncy ± seesaw.
Seat: Root tree with bee fights (b² - 4ac).
Board: Apple swords (2a).
Walk and conquer equations!

Scaffolded Math and Science: Fun with Quadratics
Trig Identities in Mario Land
Like
Palace: Game level.
Pipe: Sin/cos stack squished to 1.
Platform: Tangled tan to sec.
House: Cot candy explosion to csc.
Trig becomes coin-collecting fun!
Python Data Structures Kitchen
Lists (mutable), tuples (immutable), etc.
Fridge: Add/remove list items.
Counter: Glued tuple.
Stove: Jumbled set.
Sink: Key-value dict.
Code “cooks” in your mind!
Electrical Circuits Street Stroll
Ohm’s Law (V=IR) and parts.
House: Volcano voltage.
Yard: Wrestler resistor.
Light: Charge-capturing cap.
Bench: Coiled inductor party.
Circuits flow like a neighborhood adventure!
Example’s aside. Here’s the thing.
Brains love spaces and stories.. use WHAT ALREADY WORKS! Make it personal (tie to games!), practice daily, and avoid overload. For the competition, imagine an AI app generating custom palaces, quizzing as you explore. It’s interactive learning on steroids!
This week’s competition STARTED: Get Building!
Week 3 is your chance to make teaching seamless and joyful. Blend AI with games, memory tricks, and creativity. Delight while teaching by just leveraging what already works. Who knows? Your project could inspire the next gen of learners. Grab your tools, brainstorm, and submit. The future of fun education starts with you—let’s make it automatic!

One last thing
Kira wrote this page for us here. https://www.ericrhea.com/spring-into-ai/week-3-interactive-tutorials.html that has even more about this week’s challenge.

Some of Kira’s suggestions are quite interesting! Consider this one, as every week we’ve had audio submissions? This could be very interesting to try!

OK, one more last thing
