The Broadside printed the news of July 4th, 1776. Stop the Presses asks the harder question: which news? You run a Philadelphia print shop across three editions. Dispatches arrive — most genuine, some British disinformation crafted to look genuine. Print, hold, or spend a precious investigation. Then the presses run, the stamps come down, and the tavern tells you what your judgment cost.

Built on yesterday — what changed
The original: The Broadside (Week 2) — live demo — a July 4th printing experience — celebratory, not adversarial
A full deception game: every edition mixes three genuine 1776 reports with two AI-crafted British plants, and the ground truth stays hidden until you have committed
Investigation as a resource: two tokens per edition buy period-voice verification reports that lean toward the truth without stating it
The printed edition renders as an actual broadsheet, then the reveal stamps each story Confirmed True or DISINFORMATION — with the tell you should have caught
Circulation versus reputation across three editions, with final titles from Voice of the Revolution down to British Mouthpiece
How the AI works
Dispatch generation with hidden state — a forced tool call produces each edition: genuine reports grounded in real July 1776 events, and plants engineered to be plausible. The truth flags ride along as hidden ground truth the interface never shows early.
Investigation — spending a token asks Claude for a rider report in period voice that hints at authenticity without ruining the game.
The tavern reacts — after each reveal, a streamed vignette of Philadelphia reading your paper: triumphant if you printed truth, withering if you printed the plant.
