The world became a more interesting place to watch switching camera perspectives. It allowed me to make sense of more failure modes of the harness, and also to observe the finer details of John’s world in new ways. The banner image of this article is a lightswitch in John’s garage, so to speak.
I am still working thru multiple failure modes, even as I fix them there are scenarios where they can re-emerge. Consider say the various failure modes in this run of John’s world, but also of some surprises. There are multiple in the recording, but it’s a complex result of if this, then that.
For example, John is trapped in his garage.
Every time he walks a certain distance away, he gets teleported back inside. If you layered a story on top of it, it would play like a dark comedy: John repeatedly trying to escape, only to get yanked back by some absurd invisible rule. Eventually, he gives up and sits down with his feet hanging over the edge of the garage—an interesting choice—and for the first time, he teleports outside. The moment he tries to move, though? Poof. Right back into the garage.
One surprising case is Linda Carter. I’m not entirely sure what Linda’s relationship to John is, and I haven’t gone digging through the data model yet to confirm it. But there are relationship signals in the world, and it looks like some of that information is leaking directly into behavior.

Watching John just stare at this message, as he sits in the garage-knowing he’s totally trapped. It’s sad, in a way.
Another interesting failure mode involves John’s truck. It appears in some frames, but not others. The tracking and coordinate system still have some kinks to work out, and that part is very much still in progress.
