Vanta is already looking for the next red door
Nova starts near the top of the Grand Metropole. Vanta starts on the other side. Seven red doors hide dossiers across the tower. Either spy can win by carrying four to the getaway car on the garage floor.
Getting there is the hard part. The elevators serve different stretches of the building, so a fast ride can still leave you on the wrong side of the next dossier. The tower map shows where each shaft goes. Vanta is making a plan, too.
Read the floor, then pick a route
Move with A and D or the arrow keys. Press Up at a red door to take its dossier. At a shaft, Up calls or boards the car. Hold Up or Down to ride, then step out with Left or Right. The game also has a touch pad and action buttons for phones.
Blue doors release guards. Their shots come high or low: duck under a high shot and jump over a low one. You can fire, jump-kick Vanta to knock a dossier loose, or place a mine in a path they may use. Lamps can fall when shot. The pause menu offers lower effects, while the title screen has a calm mode for its animated introduction.
The title promises a chase. The floors make you earn it.
Build notes: one hotel, several kinds of pressure
Gamelab: Elevator Madness, originally published on Advisory Hour on September 27, 2026, follows four failed builds and the model change that got the game moving.
The current game runs from static files with a local copy of Three.js r185. Its cutaway hotel uses five elevator shafts with overlapping service ranges. The red doors are fixed across the tower, while guard doors give each floor another reason to move carefully.
The presentation mixes 3D scenery and characters with illustrated textures, sound samples, and a piano score synthesized in the browser. A lower-effects option reduces the render load. The route and the rival matter most when the player can still read the next door, shot, and lift.
Changelog: from a short descent to a rival race
An earlier three-floor prototype tested a connected hotel, two dossiers, guards, and paired elevators. Rival Protocol is the current playable build. It expands the tower to 14 floors and makes Vanta compete for the same seven dossiers. This page follows the current game; the earlier build remains part of the project record.
